Lady of the Lake

Lady of the Lake is:

Lisa Marie Lawson - vocals, violin, harp
Michael Lawson - cello, lute, vocals
Cameron Lawson - drums and accordian
and guest artists

Lisa's words:
We are a Celtic-influence band residing in northern California.  After many years of playing Celtic music as a duo, and earlier playing with the Sacramento band Keeva, Michael and I produced two different Winter's Eve concerts as part of our Sacramento Baroque Soloists concert seasons in 2007 and 2008.  The concerts were overwhelmingly well received, encouraging us to continue to pursue our love of Celtic music, and to finally name a band in 2010.  Our favorite influences are Loreena McKennitt, Solas, Lunasa, and the album "Faire Celts."

Band bios:

Lisa Marie Lawson has been a professional violinist for many years, performing and teaching in Sacramento since 1994. She has always loved to sing and was drawn to having a band despite her classical pursuits.  She began studying voice with Carolyn Booker in 2007. Lisa fell in love with Celtic music performing with the band Keeva with her husband Michael, Chris Whetstone, and Dan Chan, from 1998 to 2001, and again beginning in 2010.  She and her husband Michael and their two boys, Cameron and Liam, live in a strawbale passive solar home on five acres in the country. Lisa enjoys gardening, yoga, and spending time with her family.  She is the music director and leader of Sacramento Baroque Soloists.

Michael Lawson has developed a unique presence as a cellist, specializing in the improvisational styles of Celtic, jazz, and Baroque music. He teaches a large studio of cellists of all ages. Michael built the Lawson’s strawbale house and enjoys sailing and waterskiing. He co-founded Sacramento Baroque Soloists with his wife Lisa and performs as continuo cellist.

Cameron Lawson has been immersed in Celtic music since he was in the womb. He is studying piano with Kirsten Smith and is learning to play the accordian. He is happy to help his Mom and Dad out in his first professional concert, but sometimes he’d rather be playing with the kids! Cameron is ten years old.
